GBI Student Body

Grizzly Bible Institute will be accepting 16 students for enrollment for the 2009-2010 school year, spanning from August 31, 2009, until late June 2010. The 16 students will comprise of 8 male and 8 female single students ranging approximately from the ages of 18-25 years old. Older singles, married couples, and foreign citizens will be evaluated for enrollment on an individual basis.

Why Young Adults Come to GBI?

Potential Grizzly Bible Institute students want to live meaningful, authentic, satisfying, and merciful lives to the glory of Jesus Christ. However, they know that this type of life cannot be created and sustained apart from the Spirit of God in connection with the once and for all revealed written Word of God. Spiritually hungry and thirsty young adults sense that the blazing Sun of the solar system of their lives – with all its planets orbiting around this massive Sun – must be the supremacy of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, exhibited especially in Christ crucified for undeserving sinners. They long for the fullness of God to satisfy their souls forever and, thus, free them from the passing pleasures of sin so that they are enabled to truly love all peoples for Christ’s sake.

Christian young adults who experience the tension between their Godward desires and the remaining corruption in their hearts and who want to be transformed intellectually, emotionally, and relationally by the beauty of Jesus Christ and His saving work may find Grizzly Bible Institute to be a refreshing oasis in the midst of the lifeless desert of shallow human thoughts, passions, and pursuits.

If you want to be serious in fighting God-belittling sin and to be ferocious in pursuing eternal satisfaction in our Holy Sovereign God using His appointed means, then Grizzly Bible Institute could be the destination for you.

Five Assumptions for Incoming Students
  • The student must exhibit being an authentic growing Christian with corroborating evidence of their salvation and their desire for more & more of God.
  • The student must view the Bible as their sole authoritative & trustworthy guide to the most important realities in the universe.
  • The student must be eager, according to their physical abilities, to participate in the various outdoor activities at GBI.
  • The student must be willing to interact profusely with fellow-students, staff, and teachers.
  • The student must be diligent in thinking & praying hard regarding the most important realities in the universe.
Student Costs

The entire cost for attending GBI will be $5495 per student. This will cover lodging, food, books & notes, special speakers, transportation, and outdoor activities. A payment installment plan is available upon request. Moreover, a discount of $500 will be given to students whom fully pay their bill by June 30, 2009.

Student Housing

Student housing at Grizzly Bible Institute will consist of four separate housing units in the Edgewood, New Mexico vicinity. 4 students and 1 staff member of the same sex will occupy each house. Each student will share a bedroom with a fellow student. Houses will be fully furnished, and will possess a landline phone and wireless internet access. Further information about the housing setup, including the expectations for the resident students, will be available in the student handbook or upon request.

Student Food

Food services for GBI students will be centered on each individual house that students reside. Each house will be given a specific amount of money to spend on food for any given week. The staff member and the 4 students of each house will then spend the money allotted to them to buy the food sufficient for each student for the entire week. If a particular student desires additional food items beyond the reasonable budget for each member of the house, then they will be financially responsible for those items. Though the food service will be each house’s responsibility, there will oftentimes be lunches provided at the GBI campus during the week for the students.

Weekly Life for GBI Students

Grizzly Bible Institute students will be very active during a typical week. There will be approximately 20 hours devoted to classroom learning on a weekly basis (Mon & Wed: 9am-12 pm & 1-3 pm; Tues & Thurs: 10am-12 pm & 1-2pm; Fri: 9am-12pm & 1-2 pm). To maximize the classroom experience, students will be assigned roughly 25 hours of homework per week to coincide with the specific teaching module for that week. A detailed description of the homework paradigm for the students will be available in the GBI student handbook.

All GBI students will be discipled by a staff member of the same sex throughout the school year. These individual gatherings will occur 3 times during the week lasting one hour apiece.

The specific times will be scheduled by both the student and the staff member. An hour of worship by the means of prayer, singing, and sharing will occur on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9-10 am.

Weekly outdoor activities will take place on Tuesday and Thursdays afternoons from 2-4 pm. In addition, a more involved outdoor activity will be scheduled for approximately every other Saturday throughout the school year.

All students will certainly be expected to attend church services each Sunday morning, whether at Covenant of Grace Bible Church or at another reputable church. While not required, students will strongly be encouraged to periodically be involved in their local church ministries.

While the above activities will constitute a hefty week for students, there will surely be sufficient personal time and leisure for all students. Furthermore, there will be intermittent weeks where the classroom and homework load will be substantially lighter for the students.

Special Events for Students

Creative events will be planned in the midst of the school year so that students will have the opportunity to deviate from the regular rigors of the Institute. For example, two separate camping trips will be scheduled for the enjoyment of the students. One will occur in mid-September and the other in early May. Another event will be a ministry trip in late March that will last a few days and will provide students hands-on experience in serving Jesus by serving others. Besides these planned events, GBI staff will be leading groups of interested students into various ministry opportunities in the local community on a regular basis.

A six-week missions trip will bring the school year to an exhilarating completion for the GBI students. This trip will occur approximately between mid-May and late June. There will be two separate teams, each consisting of 8 students and 2-3 staff members, embarking on adventures to foreign lands in advancing the Kingdom of God in a plethora of ways. More information will be forthcoming to the students as the trips are finalized.
